Powder Coating

What is Powder Coating?
Powder coating was first used in Australia in about 1967.

Powder coating is the technique of applying dry paint to metal parts. The powder paint is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the metal part. The part is then placed in an oven and the powder particles melt and coalesce to form a continuous film. The paint then cures upon cooling.

Advantages of Powder Coating
Powder coating does not use solvents which makes this process environmentally friendly as VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) are not released into the air.

• Highly chip and scratch resistant.

• Can resist abuse in low and high temperature variances.

• Corrosion resistant, durable, and will not peel, flake, or blister.

• Excellent fade resistance to ultraviolet light.

• High quality one coat coverage (metallics require clear coat application).

• Powder coatings can produce thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings without running or sagging.

• Virtually unlimited number of colors and wide variety of finishes are available. Costs do vary according to paint selection.
